Midsummer in Sweden is a cherished celebration where the light lingers long into the evening. This year, we brought a taste of that spirit to Ambleside alongside our friends at Peak Performance, and it turned into a brilliant night on and off the fells.
We kicked things off with a relaxed lock-in at the store, joined by friends of the brand and a few familiar faces, with Swedish-inspired refreshments setting the tone. After a short introduction to Peak Performance and their hiking range, the team kitted us out and we set off straight from the store into the hills.
The route took us up and over Loughrigg Fell, heading towards Rydal Cave. As the light stretched on, the walk felt easy and unhurried, with everyone settling into that steady rhythm you only get on a long summer evening outdoors.
A Swedish-inspired feast in Rydal Cave
Inside the cave, Tait and Conor had set up a three-course Swedish-inspired feast, cooked over Primus stoves and served in true communal style. With Helinox seating, good food, and a glass of schnapps to toast midsummer the space felt both wild and welcoming at the same time.
Winding down the evening
As the evening carried on, the conversation flowed and the light never quite faded outside the cave. It was one of those rare moments where you lose track of time completely.
On the way back down, the kit really spoke for itself. The Utility Down Jacket brought warmth when it was needed, the Trail HIPE 3L Jacket handled the light rain and changing conditions, and the Freelight Reversible proved a favourite for its easy, adaptable insulation on the move.
