At the end of March we hosted a women’s community dip at Rydal Water - a relaxed morning by the lake, bringing people together to try Finisterre’s Yulex swimwear, share a cold water swim, and warm up afterwards with coffee and fresh cinnamon buns from Primus.
It didn’t look too promising first thing. Dark clouds and a wintery chill hung in the air, but by the time we arrived, the sun was starting to break through and everything began to fall into place. With arms full of kit, we headed down to the shoreline to set up. A week of heavy rain had shrunk our intended spot, but with a bit of teamwork (and some creative gazebo positioning), we made it work. Fire lit, stoves ready - a base for the morning ahead.
As everyone gathered, the atmosphere quickly settled into something easy and welcoming. Yulex suits were pulled on, layers swapped out, and conversations started flowing. There was a real sense of people looking out for one another - gloves and swim socks shared, encouragement passed around, and plenty of laughs along the way.
When it came time to head into the water, the group moved in together. No rushing, just support through that first cold shock and the kind of shared moment that makes it all worthwhile.

Back on shore, the focus shifted to warming up. Finisterre's Tego robes were quickly wrapped on, offering instant comfort against the cool air, while coffee brewed and cinnamon buns warmed on the stoves - big thanks to Kiera and Primus for bringing a bit of fika to the lakeside! Standing by the fire, hands wrapped around a hot drink, it felt like one of those mornings you don’t rush away from.
Everyone headed home with a goody bag, and what started as a single giveaway was split into three - a small reflection of the way the group had come together and supported each other throughout the morning.
By the time people began to leave, conversations were still flowing with big smiles all round. A good reminder that it’s not just about getting in the water - it’s about who you share it with, and the kit that helps you enjoy every part of it.
