Jacket or no jacket, tights or shorts, cap or beanie. Yeah, sure you'll be warm after a few miles, but stepping out the door you won't feel it.

Your route is now littered with golden yellows, reds and oranges, song birds no longer obscured by the layers of dense lush greens catch your eye as you move through the landscape. The trails are softer, the mornings darker, but the desire to be out still burns bright. Almost as bright as your new shoes.

The sky might be turning blue but the temperature says otherwise, the breeze cooling the sweat on the small of your back as you reach the summit. You've beat the sun to your respective horizons, you wait for it to catch up whilst you put on the jacket you're now pleased you packed.

You turn to head down, chasing your long shadow down the trail. The sun continues to climb as you descend, crisp leaves tumble across your path like the last of the confetti on a special day.

And just like that it's over. You're inside, washing mud off the inside of your legs, shoes by the door, jacket on the hook, ready to do it all again. Ready to do it all autumn.
